I’m over the moon to be one of the organisers of the 2015 South Yorkshire Poetry Festival, bringing the former Sheffield Poetry Festival to a wider audience, not to mention giving some fantastic poets a platform to perform in Sheffield. Below is the press release information, including a link to the programme.
We’re hosting a week of poetry events in Sheffield and around South Yorkshire, culminating in performances at the Showroom Workstation from artists including Kei Miller, Liz Berry, Patience Agbabi, Richard Price, Claire Pollard and Barnsley’s own Ian McMillan. The South Yorkshire Poetry Festival follows two successful Sheffield Poetry Festivals in 2011 and 2013 which showcased work by local writers and established poets from the UK and Ireland. This year, we’ve extended the scope of the festival to reflect the wealth of poetry events going on across the region. Click here to view the full 7-day programme.
We are pleased to support a wide range of readings, performances, open mics, workshops and poetry walks across South Yorkshire, from a ROMP at The Bridge Inn to a journey down the Mexborough canal. We hope that this will be a springboard for future festivals and literature events and, above all, we hope you enjoy the festival, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a South Yorkshire local.
We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this year’s programme and, in particular, Arts Council England for their generous support.
